Sleepless Nights And A Work Free Weekend

23 FEBRUARY 08

I went outside this morning around 7am and was pleasantly surprised by a light snow covering the ground. I headed out to my ever-increasing normal breakfast spot up the street. They messed up my order the first time but left the plate, so I had a double dose of eggs today. I now have the eye of the tiger. Currently I am sitting in a *bucks; one of 6 that are within a mile of my house. Supply and demand I suppose. I’m sipping on a B/W Peppermint Mocha and listening to Vince Gill’s “These Days” record with my earbuds. Now before you jump out of your seat hearing that I’m actually listening to country music, let me explain.

After meeting him and spending some time chatting I knew that his music would be highly relatable to me. Then after seeing him perform in the round at the Blue Bird, it was confirmed. I have always enjoyed singing along with James Taylor and even Randy Travis. My mom would have those records on as we played pool growing up. So for me Vince Gill’s music (at least this album) falls into that easy listening - lyric reflecting style. Very enjoyable. If you want my song recommendations, just ask.

Today is a day of reflection and deep breaths for me. All of the projects that I have been slaving over for the last 4 months are completely-complete. It is such a satisfying feeling to know that my blood and sweat are paying off. And not into something small that only a hand full will see, but my work is beginning to climb the ladder. And with more exposure comes more of it, which to me represents my hard work FINALLY paying off. I have yet to reach the levels I perceive in my mind but with each set goal reached and each morning spent on my knees in prayer, I can start to see it.
Funny how placing your trust in Him, as simple as it sounds (although trying to achieve) actually works. Seeing physical evidence of progress is HUGE for me, I could care less what anyone else thinks or sees, but for me personally it is uplifting. Those of you who have followed me for the last 4 years or so know this to be true. Life has battled me hard, but I have fought back every step of the way. Let that be a lesson kids, always fight back. You serve a purpose here on earth and if you give up the only one losing is you. Those who kick you and run off have already forgotten your name. It is your job to make sure they hear it again.

Today I may just veg with the PS3 and TV, or I may go green and song-write instead of wasting energy (insert tongue in cheek). Regardless I am excited to be able to head off to church in the morning tomorrow. It will be refreshing.

Sooner than later,
Cory Basil

Absolutely happy that you feel this way.. God is perfect and you can do no better than just trust Him.. although it is hard not to try and control everything.. but it is the least and the best we can do.. actually let Him act through us..
