I just wanted to drop a few words regarding the Oscars last night. Although a bit lengthy, a bit drab and lacking in a plethora of brilliant films, there was a beautiful moment. The award for best song went to… Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. Such an amazing dream come true for these two artists. Glen was able to share a moment with the world in words, but when Marketa stepped to the microphone she was drastically cut off. Immediately following the break the shows producer asked Jon to bring her back to the stage for her acceptance speech. It was a beautiful captivating moment for me. And this simple, under a minute, speech was perfect.
“The fact that we’re standing here tonight, the fact that we’re able to hold this, it’s just proof that no matter how far out your dreams are, it’s possible. And, you know, fair play to those who dare to dream, and don’t give up. This song was written from the perspective of hope, and hope, at the end of the day, connects us all, no matter how different we are.”
- Marketa Irglova
My ever-changing hat is off to the Oscars for humbly doing the right thing.I encourage you to download the song. Reminds me a bit of Damien Rice yet sprinkled with hope.
Lastly: Johnny, Oh Johnny… when will they see the art in you.
That’s all for now.cB

Yeahhh.. i loved her speech too.. two young artists being deservedly recognized.. it was beautiful!
Totally agree on the Johnny part as well.. shame shame.
I also liked when Javier dedicated the Oscar to his mom in Spanish… so touching… I bet Almodóvar was so proud too!
ps: Oh, and as far as Damien.. he’s never hopeful.. but at the same time, he’s so real that almost comes to perfection.. k. enough of drooling all over Damien Rice.
