April 1st. Update.

I’m sitting in my comfy chair (the one from my *bucks commercial) and winding down for the day. I’m trying to get shows off of my tivo, so I’m watching Deal or No Deal. By the way they edited the pre-show roll-in it looks like this dude could win a million. But that’s what they want me to think so I’ll watch.  After working non-stop for about 6 months on various music videos, editing projects and the documentary I became very very ill. I had been fighting different sicknesses in my body since Christmas. I have always been one to refuse medicine and get up and go about my day trying to shake it off. So thats what I did, until a few weeks ago when I guess my body said enough is enough. I think I’ve had about everything you can get besides death. And, well, I’m not ready for that just yet. I woke up with both my eyes sealed and swollen shut with pink eye (gross I know) and the worst stinkin’ ear ache I have ever experienced. Sooo much pain man. Ouch. I couldn’t get a doctor to take an appointment to save my life. Everything was booked thru April. I was trying everything to make the pain stop including sticking a hot blow dryer up to my ear… I read it on the web somewhere… I was desperate! Finally, I found an emergency clinic and got in and out quickly with a pile of medicine. I took it all (following the instructions) and did nothing but camp out on the couch getting movies in the mail from Blockbuster online and eating chicken noodle soup. It was pretty boring, good thing I like movies. (Howie sounds like a televangelist, “I want you to go call your friends tell them to turn on their tv’s right now, this is special.” Yes, I’m still watching Deal.)  I was able to get caught up on some reading, and dive into a daily routine of reading my bible once again, really reading it.

So, now that I am feeling better I find it’s about time I try to somewhat normalize my lifestyle from a healthy perspective; as much as possible in my line of work. I just picked up a membership to the Y down the street where I can get back into shape and play basketball a few times a week. I started reading a great book called “The Abs Diet” which is more of a lifestyle than a diet book. And I’m throwing out all junk food and am going to start forcing myself to eat more vegetables and other things that make me gag at the moment. AND most importantly for me, sleep. I am trying so hard to get on a normal sleeping schedule. You know actually sleeping 7 or 8 hours through the night like some people do. While working on the documentary I pretty much trained my body to work twenty hours straight then sleep 3 or 4 hours and get back up and do it again and again…you get the idea. For four months that was my life. In six weeks I hope to report in healthier than ever. We will all see how well I stick to this, eh?

A bunch of my nerdy tech friends got me into Twitter, which I have yet to blog about. In short Twitter is a way to “mini-blog” to the world wide web. (Deal is over and it was lame, now I have on Cities of the Underground, AWESOME show on the History Channel)  You can send “Tweets” from your cell phone directly to the internet. For me it’s a great way to get out all of the random thoughts I have from time to time. I set up a Twitter in the column on this blog so check it out. Definitely sign up and click follow on my twitter page. I try to “Follow back” those who are following me, and I also clicked on a bunch of news twitter pages etc. to stay more up to date with what’s going on around the web. The great thing about it is you don’t have to have everyones tweets sent to your cell phone, otherwise that’d be crazy annoying. If none of this paragraph makes any sense to you, that’s fine - just ignore it. ;)

Random: I was able to make it to church tonight. I’ve been attending a Tuesday night service in Brentwood the last two months (excluding when I was sickly). I have enjoyed the teaching thus far, it’s starting to turn into a regular thing for me, which is good. Well, I suppose I should wrap this rambling up and get some sleep. Oatmeal in the morning followed by the gym, then off to the studio to start on another commercial. Oh, speaking of, I will try to get permission to post some of my latest work on this blog for you all to see what I’ve been up to. The documentary dvd hits shelves on May 27th. I can’t wait it will be pretty cool to see!

Godspeed.
