Indy, Floodwaters and Ninja Mosquitoes

I just returned home to my beachfront property here in Nashville after seeing a movie down in Hickory Hollow with a buddy of mine. Allow me to rewind and discuss my day.

This morning I awoke around 8am and shook the sleep from mine eyes. I pulled myself out of bed and walked to the bathroom. Upon reaching the bathroom door my foot slipped in a puddle and I caught myself with the door frame before taking a swim. I had to think hard about this because I had just woken up and this mind of mine creates a plethora of spectacular dreams; so I thought this could be one of them. Nay, it was not. Let us go back even further. Last night upon arriving home from my week away I walked in the door to a horrible stench. I have a powerful drug-sniffing-dog type nose, so if something smells bad to you it more than likely drives me to the verge of insanity. I dropped my bags and went searching for the culprit. “Come Make Me New”

I’m on my way out the door to catch a plane. I’ll be taking a much needed mini-vacation. I will do my best to blog a day or two. If not rehash the old stuff. ;) Here is the music video for the new song. This is not a song that will be on the new album which is why I thought I’d throw it up for your enjoyment. It is stocked full of meaning and sentiments with regards to my walk with God and life here on earth. Be blessed.

Godspeed.

Brilliant.

This is one of the best videos ever created. It has been out for a while.
But most have not seen it, so here ya go!

If at first you don’t click save…

…you should be slapped.

I just lost my entire blog post. So here I go again. From the top…

I am currently watching ‘P.S. I Love You’ with my Mom. She came out for a few days visit. Last night we watched mobsters and guns in ‘American Gangster.’ So it’s only fair, tonight, a chick flick.

When I first started writing this blog post the movie had a happier lighter tone to it. And now… well, it’s just downright sad. She just exploded in an array of emotion bleeding all over the screen because he died and nothing else matters in life, nothing. She’s just alone. I relate. Completely. So of course my mindset is not even close to the same as when I wrote this post the first time. I guess there’s a reason unbeknownst to me. Movies, it’s amazing how they provoke emotion and weigh the heart. But that is the beauty of it.

Anyway, that was a bit too transparent for the immediate public. Back to the post.

Last night when she arrived we went to Rumba for a bite to eat. (Rumba is a quant little vibey joint down the street from my place, if you ever visit pin a stop to your trip). After great conversation and food we headed back home and watched the film stated above. Continue reading ‘If at first you don’t click save…’

E.T. “In Under-A-Minute”

E.T.

Okay, so here it is. I have FINALLY watched E.T. the movie for the first time ever (If you really care why I haven’t previously, CLICK HERE). After viewing the real film I was inspired to make a small short cartoon displaying my favourite scenes. And also my confusion with the ending. E.T. said he’d “Be Right Here.” But right after he says so he takes off like a _________ (Insert your own example in the space provided). Poor E   LI   O T.

What did he do with the rest of his life?  Seriously, the kids bike flew and he hung out with an alien. Where do you go from there?

Anyway, I hope you enjoy being entertained for one small minute of your life.

New This Week.

Hey Friends,

Thanks for stopping in. Be sure to check back often this week as I will be posting a couple new morsels for you. I have a busy week ahead but will be posting often!

Thanks,

Colourized Art

Thanks to all of you who stopped in last night to view me sketching live on the web-camera. The piece I am working on will be an acrylic painting on canvas for a child’s bedroom.

Here are the sketches from last night. I gave them a little colour today. Click on the photos to view them larger. If you want to skim through the video to watch the sketching CLICK HERE.

Sketching Live

Lunch/Merridee’s

I’m sitting here at Merridee’s Bakery in d-town Franklin finishing up my lunch. Turkey and cheese on whole wheat. Mmm… turkey. The playlist here is interesting… It’s some sort of satellite mix station. Sounds more like the ipod on shuffle. So far we have, “we didn’t start the fiiiiyaaa…” and onto Cher’s anthem “do you beliEeeve in life after loooove..” followed by “I’ve been waiting for a girl like you…” And then one of the Lifehouse smash hits “And it’s you and me…” Hopefully, you now have a mess in your head trying to figure out which song your mind wants to play for you. Oh the mind, it’s a wonderful thing.

After writing a new song on Sunday night I felt compelled to shoot a video for it creatively releasing all that went into the lyrics and melody. I shot it on Monday afternoon, after finishing some other work that needed attending to, and spent Tuesday and Wednesday editing. I am very satisfied with the outcome. I believe it portrays the depth of thought behind the lyrics. Having said all of that… I can’t release it yet. For one, I’m waiting for the copyright info to be received. And two, I’m going to properly track the song this weekend at a ‘real studio’. So that the quality of the audio does the video justice. If all goes according to plan I will do the official “release” at some point next week. Along with a myspace redesign and the song itself placed on myspace for you to listen to.

Man, I’m so in the mood for a piece of chocolate cake. I’m going to go see what they have…Okay, no chocolate cake slices so I went with a mint chocolate brownie and a half pint of skim milk.

Just ran into a friend in the biz here. I love that aspect of the small town. What I don’t love about small towns is that everyone is always in your business. But I haven’t run into much of that so far. I keep to myself mostly anyway.

James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” just started playing, what an amazing song. As you can tell I’m writing very randomly and just spitting out things that pop in my head. I sat down here with the intention of finishing my blog on the music industry, but there are way too many distractions to completely focus on that right now.

I’ve got to get home and organize some sketches for a commissioned painting I’m doing with a finish date of July 1. I also have two other projects I’m juggling this weekend as well as working away at finishing up my lyrics for the album. Full plate here. We were supposed to shoot a live concert this weekend but that fell through, which is fine. I have so much going on. May is looking busier and busier. I am going to take a week out at the end of the month to go on a mini-vacation. Should be great.

May and June are so stuffed with great releases. I can’t wait… The new Indiana Jones film on the 22nd of May, Get Smart a show I used to watch as a youngster… Wall-E the newest from Disney/Pixar on June 27th… and in music the newest from Coldplay on June 17th. It’s about time! (You can get the new single at iTunes now) I need some new Coldplay. X & Y holds painful memories stored in time.

Write more soon. Thanks for stopping by.

Moving on the wheels of life,

Get Lost.

04 May 2008

This morning my old school John Wayne alarm clock woke me with a startle, no matter how many times I hear that thing go off I still can’t get used to it. It affects my dreams drastically and I awake thinking there is a fire. But no, it’s just my John Wayne alarm clock. Silly me. I arrived at church a quarter to 10. I must say that I have not experienced a worship service like that in some time. It was much needed and very refreshing for my soul. To put it bluntly there weren’t any people getting in the way or distracting me from connecting completely with God. (I know that I have a lot of viewers on my blog that are not Christians or do not view God as do. That is perfectly fine. I’m not here to cram anything down anyone’s throat. I’m just sharing what life is like from my point of view so please view it as such and do not take offense. If at anytime you feel the need to ask questions regarding my faith please do so. I am an open book on the subject and will remain so until death.) I’d go deeper, but I feel that is fine for now. It was, to repeat, so refreshing. I felt that I had purpose again, outside of the box we live in here. Most days I feel that my Christianity is so far different than any one else’s that I see. Which is fine. To each his own.

After service myself and a manager friend here in Nashville went to lunch. We were both being indecisive morons and drove around for decades trying to decide. He mentioned bar-b-q, which I shot down because I didn’t think it would sit well in my stomach. Then I mentioned Macaroni Grill, which he shot down because he had a bad experience at the one in Franklin… Continue reading ‘Get Lost.’
