Coming soon to a computer screen near you.
An adventure, a journey, the reinventing of the wheel.
For kicks I thought I’d show you what goes into creating a “Masthead” for my blog.
Something sparks a little inspiration, I envision the final result in my mind and it doesn’t leave until I get it right on paper. The main photo of myself is one that the amazing Lee Steffen took at last months press photoshoot. Do take the time to visit his site and check out his work (click on his name above). I credit him for the idea of compositing a castle image behind the throne. Great idea!
I set off to find the right castle and cliff image. Once found I went to work cropping cutting and cleaning up the images. I then brought in my clouds and raging sea – toying with the placement to get it right. Next I had to get all of the images on the “same page” so to speak. To do this I used various colour overlays and gradients. Once I got the look I wanted I used brushes to bring out a few areas and to dirty up the image.
Lastly, I HAD to include the Black Pearl – what ocean would be complete without her?
Slap in the patented raven and Violå!
Below you will see all of the images that I used to create this months Masthead. Hopefully this will create a little inspiration for some of you. If you own Photoshop don’t be afraid to attempt compositing – it may turn out better than you think!
