Here is an entry from my personal journal today…
22 JANUARY 2008
So yesterday I strolled into my favourite little Irish pub these days, in downtown Franklin. I needed to grab a decent meal before working all night. This place is small but usually quiet. I sat down near the bar and placed my order. I then pulled out my copy of “The Sun Also Rises” by Hemingway and started to read. Five words in I realized that I wouldn’t be able to hear myself read from this location. I was sitting next to an extremely loud talker. This afternoon I went to the 5points *bucks for my almost daily dose of black and white peppermint mocha. On the way back to my car I was walking alongside the road and a mutt-like dog was riding shotgun in an old beat up pick-up truck. The truck was driving by at approximately 5 mph. I glanced at the dog and realized that he was staring intently at me, and not just at me, but right into my eyes. The whole thing seemed to happen in slo-mo. It was bizarre, and kind of reminded me of the movie ‘Fallen.’ Except the dog wasn’t singing, “Time is on my side, yes it is…” For a split second I thought that dog actually had a soul. Close encounter’s of the furred kind. (That was really lame, someone rip it off and make millions.)
Oh, and happy birthday to my sister. :)

Living most of my years in the west leaves me not so familiar with tornadoes. I think I need to read a book or ask a few locals about them…does everyone run and hide in a closet with a matchbook and a blanket when the weather service issues a tornado warning? or do they just ignore it and chalk it up to chance? It doesn’t seem like anyone really pays attention…but when my wonderful mac dashboard weather radar widget beeps at me and flashes a red tornado watch warning… and it’s hailing outside with nonstop lightning flashes and thunder… I think to myself… should I now be bunkering down somewhere instead of working in Final Cut Pro or writing this blog?
There’s no place like home.

Deadline Fast Approaching…
I was working in the studio thursday ’til 9am, then I went home for a small nap and headed back to the studio at 4pm… I arrived ‘here’ at 5pm and have not stopped working…it is now 11am on friday… and it’s blurry and hard to see the end in sight… but my mind won’t stop working… and the deadline for this 45minute documentary is saturday morning… my goal was for friday night… not sure if that is going to happen… whelp, gotta run my 5 minute break while the film rendered is over…save a prayer for me now…

I shot this small film (haha) today before going into work. Not quite as heavy as I got used to in Colorado, but none-the-less it was snow and it was a great start to the new year.

Starting out sick is not a fun way to begin the new year. However, it gives me a different perspective on what a new year can provide. Many people will strive to start the year out perfect and see how long they can last with their proclamations of resolutions. Others will simply say,”Forget it, they are pointless and I can’t ever hold to them anyway.” How I see it this year is to start with where I am at…today…right now, and record small steps, accomplishments and milestones throughout this year. Then, at this time next year, see how far I have come – instead of where I failed or didn’t measure up to goals and standards placed on myself. I tend to gauge my years from January to December instead of from one years birth-date to the next. I am excited to see what this year has to offer and to add another twist to it I have also decided to record in a notebook, aside from my journaling, how I am spending my time every day. Attempting to manage my days, both good and bad, and see exactly how much time is spent where…
